Students in Year 5 have been working hard learning about the heart and the role it plays in keeping us alive. To aid their learning, the students visited the Secondary Science laboratories to observe and take part in a heart dissection carried out by Miss Uhure.

From this, the students were able to get a better understanding of what the heart looks like, how the structures are connected and also had the opportunity to review their understanding of the theory they have been studying. The students were more than happy to make this a hands-on experience as can be seen in the photos. Many students commented that it was great to hold a turkey heart and that they thoroughly enjoyed the session as it was not something they would normally get to see or do in class. Many left feeling inspired and looking forward to joining Secondary school in 18 months’ time.
