MUN aims to educate students about the United Nations and contemporary international issues.
We strive to create positive educational experiences during a conference for students that focuses on collaboration and cooperative learning. Students gather to simulate the work of the United Nations General Assembly and various subsidiary committees.
BIS Houston MUN was held on campus on 6-8 April 2022.
The opening ceremony included outstanding inspirational motivational speakers: alumn Alex @BalliolOxford, @richardhyde99 British Consul General and @mebottazzi Associate Dean, National School of Tropical Medicine!
The BIS Houston conference is designed to challenge participants to demonstrate global perspectives by collaborating with other delegates in the community to gain knowledge around world topics. The 2022 theme of Uniting our World Through Pride and Respect inspires the focus of the 8 committees. Delegates were able to choose their level based on previous MUN experiences: beginner, intermediate or advanced.
Delegates represented either a country or individual on their chosen committee. Students learnt how to recognize changes in our societies and overcome challenges within our surroundings in order to build a stable future for generations to come.
Below are the committees students participated in as delegates:
Commission on Status of Women (CSW)
United Nations Security Council (UNSC)
UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD

UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO
