The Nord Anglia Performing Arts Festival, The Americas 2020, is a perfect example of the unique experiences that Nord Anglia Education provides students and the value that Nord Anglia places on a performing arts education and the life-changing skills and dispositions that it sparks.
North Broward Preparatory School, near Miami, Florida, once again hosted the Festival inviting participants to enjoy NBPS’s college-style campus of nearly 80 acres, including accommodations at its International Village and performing arts facilities.
During the exciting five-day programme, more than 300 participants from 13 schools within the Americas region were immersed in performing arts, creativity, reflection, and teamwork. Nord Anglia’s dancers, actors, and musicians discovered new artistic possibilities and made new friends through engaging workshops, masterclasses, social activities, and professional performances.
It was remarkable to witness participants personally invest in their artistry as creators, interpreters, and performers. Throughout the week, inspiring Juilliard Alumni and guest artists engaged the students and shared their love for the performing arts in large ensembles and unique cross-arts projects. Students explored social and individual topics through their artmaking, such as “Hidden Beings,” a Music and Dance Creative CollabLAB, “Sleep my child,” a cirque inspired piece, “Play” from Finding Neverland the Musical, and other workshops and masterclasses.
“At Nord Anglia Education, we are ambitious for our students – we believe there is no limit to what they can achieve. It’s why we are committed to creating unique experiences that spark their creativity and challenge them to achieve more than they imagined.” Mark Orrow-Whiting, Director of Curriculum and Student Performance
The Festival culminated in an extraordinary multi-disciplinary performance at the world-class South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. Our young artists demonstrated their passion, expression, and creativity through many moving performances, including the premiere of new works for dance drama and music that they composed during the Festival.
In addition to growing personally and artistically, participants formed new friendships with peers from across the world, spending their last full day together enjoying Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
Thank you to everyone who helped provide these meaningful and life-changing experiences to our students. Special thanks to the Nord Anglia Education team for welcoming performing artists and to the entire North Broward Preparatory School community for being such gracious hosts. Thank you also to our colleagues at Juilliard and the guest artists who shared their extraordinary expertise and passion with our students.
