BCB Weekly Newsletter (6th of November 2020) Dear Parents, This has been a landmark week for us, having some students in full time for the first time this academic year, and we hope it is a clear indication for more changes in the near future. For many other year groups, we know it is still disappointing waiting for your opportunity to return but please forgive my celebration of this, I am certain we will all be together sooner rather than later now.

Dear Parents,

This has been a landmark week for us, having some students in full time for the first time this academic year, and we hope it is a clear indication for more changes in the near future. For many other year groups, we know it is still disappointing waiting for your opportunity to return but please forgive my celebration of this, I am certain we will all be together sooner rather than later now.

I have been in Brazil for three months as the new Principal of BCB and Wednesday was the first day I met students who were able to spend the whole day in school learning new curriculum content and engaging in preparations for this a vital year in their education. It was such an exciting moment to address them all. The message I was trying to get across to them was to make the most of this opportunity, they have access to their teachers face to face, resources in the classroom, direct interaction with peers. Seize this opportunity.

During one of their breaks I met a charming Year 11 student, Mel. I believe she epitomises everything about a BCB student. She has a great character, so engaging and respectful with a wonderful amount of humour that showed so much of her personality. Mel has been at BCB for ten years and so is a marvellous example of what a great education the school offers. Mel and all the other students have taken the wonderful learning experiences offered, has a growth mindset, and developed academically and personally with fantastic guidance.

I also briefly joined a Year 13 Chemistry lesson. I unfortunately couldn’t remember much of my school Chemistry, it is many years since I studied it for ‘A’ Level, but the students there were highly engaged and quickly into their stride of being back in school. They had some interesting feedback on how they felt, and as they stated it is strange for them to be back in school learning, however, one thing they were all looking forward to was getting used to their normal school routines. Long may it continue and extend to all after November 19th.

Have a great weekend!
