Our Music Department creates opportunities for students to further their musical interests and talents. Music is a powerful, unique form of communication that can change the way students think, feel, and act. It brings together intellect and feeling, and it enables personal expression, reflection, and emotional development. Students perform and compose music in different styles to increase their understanding of musical instruments, processes, and cultural influences.
We follow the National Curriculum to prepare students for Cambridge International Examinations. We guide students through integrated units that are both imaginative and challenging, motivating all students who receive one hour of musical instruction from the curriculum per week.
Students can also take part in ensembles which include:
- Training orchestra
- Senior orchestra
- Chamber choir
- Senior choir
- Ensemble
- Secondary school musical production
- Students can also have individual instrumental lessons provided by specialist tutors on a rotational basis throughout the school week.
Performance opportunities include instrumental concerts, informal concerts in the foyer, major musical productions, recitals, EFC school events, and other community events.
