BCB Weekly Newsletter (06th of August 2021) It is with great delight that we can confirm our ability to welcome back each and every child into full time school from Monday August 16th

Dear Parents,

It is with great delight that we can confirm our ability to welcome back each and every child into full time school from Monday August 16th. We have finished our numbers analysis and are confident with some reorganisation of classrooms and furniture that we can all fit. This is also true when everyone returns that have chosen to remain in country or at home until they see how the pandemic improves in Brazil. Return is not compulsory so we will be operating our Hybrid system for those who choose that option.

Next week will see the remainder of the organisation being finalised and you will receive further communication about form teachers and classes. We will also complete our dining analysis and see what we need to do to accommodate lunches for all at a safe distance of 1 meter and of course not mixing our bubbles.

Important Primary Information: Mrs. Alison Priestley, our Head of Primary, is having to remain in the UK for personal family reasons and will return to school on September 13th. Ms. Larissa Mastrantone and Mr. Paul McDaniel, our extremely capable deputies, will be stepping in to ensure the smooth running and operation of the school. You and your children will notice no difference. Mr. McDaniel is designated as the Acting Head of Primary and so any questions you would normally send to Mrs. Priestley, should be directed to him. His email is paul.mcdaniel@britishcollegebrazil.org. We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Priestley back in a few weeks but in the meantime our deputies will be doing a sterling job and of course be at your disposal should you need them for anything.

Next week is the induction week with many learning activities for all our staff, setting up and sharing our priorities for the year and just re-connecting with each other as colleagues. All of our new staff are in country, which is a huge relief to us all, and we can’t wait to get to know them and have them as part of our community and team. This afternoon the SLT held a welcome event for them, and they are all happy and settling in well. More information about them will come out in due course.

Please do enjoy the remainder of your holidays, your children will be out of your homes every school day for the first time in 18 months!

Have a great weekend,

Nick West
