Creativity meets numbers: STA Poetry Slam celebrates ‘Maths is Everywhere’!

On Friday 8th November 2024, Year 6 students visited the High School for the eagerly anticipated annual STA Years 6 and 7 Poetry Slam. This year’s theme, ‘Maths is Everywhere,’ inspired students from Years 6 and 7 to compose and perform exceptional poems exploring the connections between mathematics and creativity.

After much deliberation, a huge congratulations to Lily from Year 7, who was awarded First Place for her thought-provoking poem, ‘The Infinite Equation.’ Congratulations to Hana from Year 6 ('Time') and Emerson from Year 6 ('Mr Maths meets Mrs Equal') for their beautifully crafted poems and engaging performances. To all the finalists – your outstanding poems and captivating presentations made the judges' decision incredibly difficult.

St Andrews Bangkok High School celebrates Black History Month with creativity and culture

In October, our High School celebrated Black History Month with a series of enriching activities that highlighted the achievements and culture of Black artists. Our Art Department’s album cover project allowed students to showcase their creativity by designing covers for Black musicians, with top entries earning a visit to the Gustav Klimt immersive exhibition. The month also featured a “Celebration of Black Arts” event, hip-hop performances, and a special Afrobeats dance performance at our High School International Day, led by Year 12 students as part of their CAS project, "Heritage and Hope," to promote year-round awareness of Black History.
