At the beginning of this term, the St Andrews Bangkok High School Sports Hall buzzed with excitement as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Rubik's Cube, one of the world’s most iconic puzzles. Hosted by the Embassy of Hungary, Ms Bogi, Mr Peter, and the World Cube Association of Thailand, the event brought together puzzle enthusiasts from across our community to honour this brilliant Hungarian invention.

A brief history of the Rubik’s Cube
Invented in 1974 by Ernő Rubik, a Hungarian professor of architecture, the Rubik’s Cube began as a teaching tool to help students grasp three-dimensional geometry. However, its ingenious design soon captivated the world, transforming it into a global phenomenon by the 1980s. The puzzle’s unique combination of logic, problem-solving, and dexterity made it a favourite pastime for millions.

Over the past 50 years, the Rubik's Cube has evolved far beyond its original purpose. It has inspired competitive speedcubing and artistic creations and even served as a metaphor for life's challenges and solutions. Ernő Rubik’s invention remains a symbol of creativity and ingenuity that continues to connect people worldwide.
