St Andrews Bangkok Business Students gain valuable experience through work placements

Work Experience Week | St Andrews - Work Experience Week

St Andrews International School Bangkok's International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) and BTEC students recently completed a week of work experience in various companies in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and as far as in Penang, Malaysia. This unique, exciting opportunity allowed the students to step out of their comfort zones and gain direct feedback from a professional environment in the real world.

Work Experience Week: Expanding horizons

The work experience programme was a significant milestone for the students as it marked the culmination of their first year in the vocational programme. It provided them with a hands-on opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired in the classroom to real-world situations. Through these work placements, the students were able to explore their industry of choice, develop new skills, and experience firsthand the demands of the modern workplace.

Learning beyond the classroom

The work experience placements were carefully selected to ensure that the students were exposed to diverse work environments and had the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. From shadowing employees to taking on tasks independently, the students immersed themselves in the day-to-day operations of different companies, gaining practical experience in their chosen fields.

Building confidence and skillset

Participating in the work experience programme not only provided the students with valuable practical skills but also helped them build confidence and resilience - the mark of St Andrews Bangkok and Nord Anglia students. They had to adapt to new challenges, communicate effectively with colleagues, and demonstrate their ability to work independently and as part of a team. These experiences will be of great benefit to them in forming their character, as they prepare to enter the workforce or pursue further studies in their chosen fields.

Overall, Work Experience Week 2024 was the culmination and highlight of IBCP and BTEC students’ first year in their hands-on vocational programme. Designed to enhance students' access to, and understanding of, the skills needed to succeed in the modern workplace, our future professionals are just getting started in what promises to be an exciting journey in enterprise.
