In March 2024, St Andrews International School Bangkok had the privilege of hosting another series of professional development workshops for the IB Asia-Pacific (IBAP). This event brought together 290 international school teachers from across the region, all of whom teach various subjects in the International Baccalaureate programmes.
The workshops aimed to deepen the understanding of the IB courses being taught by educators. With a total of 18 workshops, participants had the opportunity to attend subject-specific seminars for courses, such as Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) and Sports, Exercise, and Health Science (SEHS), which focused on the updated syllabus. Category 1 and 2 workshops were offered for other courses as well, spanning the Diploma Programme (DP), Career-related Programme (CP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Primary Years Programme (PYP).
One of the event's highlights was the emphasis on the Career-related Programme (CP) courses, something of particular interest to us. Having recently launched the IBCP, it was a great opportunity for St Andrews to connect with other international schools that are also running this programme. The CP offers students a unique pathway that combines academic study with practical learning experiences, preparing them for further education and their professional lives.
This being the second time we’ve hosted professional development workshops for the IB Asia-Pacific at our High School, the event resulted again in a tremendous success. Attending teachers gained valuable insights and tools to enhance their teaching practices within the IB programmes. The opportunity to network and collaborate with educators from the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in the Career-related Programme (CP), has further enriched our academic staff at St Andrews.
“This was a great achievement on our part as the hosting school. I am very grateful to our IB Coordinators Ms Faye and Mr Will, as well as the administrative team, for making these workshops run so smoothly for all in attendance.”
— Mr Paul, Head of School
The IB, as with the education space as a whole, is ever-evolving. Workshops like these reinforce our school's commitment to excellence and continuous professional growth. Hosting this event further solidifies our standing as a leading international school for IB education in the Asia-Pacific region, and we look forward to more in the future.
