Welcome back to the first full week of Term 3 and the final term of the 2021/22 academic year. We are prepared for a great term with a wide range of activities inside and outside the classroom. Starting this week with a University Workshop, a Year 6 to 7 transition session, ECAs and a PTG Committee meeting.

Firstly, I know everyone will join me in wishing our Graduating Class of 2022, the senior Year 13 students and our Year 11s every success in their upcoming IB examinations and (i)GCSE external examinations. This is the first time in two years that these year groups can sit final external exams due to the pandemic cancellations of the prior two years. I know everyone in these two year groups has been working exceptionally hard preparing themselves for their final exams. Both year groups are now on study leave and will come into school to work on revision and exam questions with their teachers or for the final exams.

Best of luck to each and everyone of our students in these year groups.

Careers and Higher Education Counselling Workshop

This week in High School there will be an open workshop delivered by our brilliant University and Career guidance counsellors, Mr Rob and Ms Alyssa. This workshop will give lots of beneficial information to parents in our school who wish to understand more about the pathway their children will take to get into their higher education degree courses.

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Session for Parents

Also, in High School this week is the next transition session for parents of our Year 6 students. The goal of this session is to help Year 6 parents find out more about the fantastic High School their children will attend as Year 7 students next academic year. The session will start with an overview of the curriculum and what parents can expect their children to experience as they move through the High School years. There will be an opportunity to have a tour around the campus to see the High School in operation. It will give families insight into all the different experiences their children will have next academic year in Year 7.

Friday Night Game

Last Friday there was a fantastic atmosphere in the High School Sports Centre where 200 Primary School students descended to participate in a Friday night basketball game. Many parents enjoyed this spectacle through the online live streaming of this event. You can watch a video of the recording here.

The event was introduced by Mr Damon and then opened with the Year 3 and 4 dance teams leading us into the first Basketball Games. It really was a great event to start Term 3 off with everyone feeling we are moving positively to the “new normal.” The next stage will be to have parents be able to attend in person and enjoy it with their children.

COVID Protocols and moving forward

The PTG will have its first committee meeting on Tuesday 26th April at the Primary Campus. There are many topics that we will discuss but an important one will be the school COVID protocols. We shall look at how using ATK testing we can really start to allow parents onsite to enjoy the sports and school activities as part of the school community.

A huge thank you to all parents for continuing with the ATK testing of their children on Sunday and Tuesday afternoon between 4-7 pm. Updating the Health App by 7:00 pm allows us some time to contact everyone, should there be an issue due to positive cases.

We are looking further at how to maintain our vigilance to keep our school community safe with less classes and students out of school … along with greater school access for parents. This goes through, depending on us continuing to work together and parents to complete the ATK report along with updating their children's vaccination status so we can make tutor decisions on good evidence from these dates.

Term 3 Extra-Curricular Activity Programme

It has been great to have the ECA programme start this week. The school was again happily alive with children and young people's voices enjoying the wide range of activities they had chosen to take part in with their friends.

I hope everyone enjoys this third term and makes the most of the opportunities and events available to our community.
