Meet Mr Tim, a very experienced Music Teacher, and our very own Strings Specialist. Mr Tim has been with us for over ten years and has an array of interesting musical endeavours in Music. (Currently a member of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra). Learn more below...
I come from a background of classical music performance and attended the Royal Northern College of Music (UK) with Viola as my main study. I was lucky enough to work with many world-renowned conductors and performed across Europe in Orchestras and String Quartets. In 2008, I became a Teacher and Ensemble Leader for Staffordshire Performing Arts in the UK.
I have always wanted to teach abroad so when the opportunity to teach at St Andrews arose I was ready for the challenge and adventure. I’m a High School Teacher now but have taught every year group from Reception upwards at some point during my 10 years at the school.
I have always liked adventure and in Thailand this is usually by bicycle, both in Bangkok and to some more remote areas of the country. I also enjoy performing music outside of school with Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra.
St Andrews is a very close community where teachers, parents and students are all known to each other. The students really make this a great place to work as they are always very thoughtful of each other and very appreciative towards teachers. It is a very unique atmosphere.
As part of the St Andrews Careers programme, Year 10 and Year 12 students had the valuable opportunity to hear from 20 industry professionals, including alumni, about various career pathways. The morning panel discussions provided insights into professional routes, required qualifications, and essential interpersonal skills for workplace success.
As Term 3 comes to an end, three senior students, Eleonore, Natalie, and Ananya, reflect on their experiences in the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Perhaps one of the most meaningful projects Ananya and Natalie took on during their senior studies was starting a foundation with a few other friends called Today4tomorrow – an initiative to provide opportunities to underprivileged girls in Thailand.
Congratulations to St Andrews senior student Natalie, who received an offer at the University of Bath to pursue a degree in Psychology. Have a read to learn more about Natalie’s perspective on the IB Diploma Programme and the endless possibilities that await her exploration.
Congratulations to senior student Ananya, who received an offer at University College London to pursue a degree in Politics and International Relations. We discussed her experience during the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews and her ideas and aspirations for the future. Read on!
