Loi Krathong Festival has been a beautiful, fun Thai evening celebration for families and friends. They gather by streams, canals or rivers to float decorated floral rafts, usually made of banana leaves. It is a gesture of paying respect to the Mother River.
St Andrews International School Bangkok is also celebrating Loi Krathong. The School will be holding its celebration of this special festival on 22 November. Everyone in the community is encouraged to wear Thai costumes on the day.
Primary School Loi Krathong Assemblies will take place in the Sports Hall, at 8:30 – 9:00 for students from Years 1 – 3, and at 9:15 – 9:45 for students in Years 4 – 6. The students will have the opportunity to make krathongs in their classes. High School Loi Krathong Assembly will take place in the Sports Hall, Gold Building, at 11:00 – 11:30 for Key Stage 3 students. High School students would like to present Loi Krathong Charity for this year celebration. There will be various fundraising activities in front of the High School Library during the morning recess and lunch break. The charity activities include selling various Doi Tung products, making krathongs, fun photo taking, lucky draws – Soi Dow and dress up teachers with Thai costumes.
All proceeds from the fundraising go to support Huay Rai Samakkee School’s library in Chiang Rai Province in Northern Thailand.
As part of the St Andrews Careers programme, Year 10 and Year 12 students had the valuable opportunity to hear from 20 industry professionals, including alumni, about various career pathways. The morning panel discussions provided insights into professional routes, required qualifications, and essential interpersonal skills for workplace success.
As Term 3 comes to an end, three senior students, Eleonore, Natalie, and Ananya, reflect on their experiences in the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Perhaps one of the most meaningful projects Ananya and Natalie took on during their senior studies was starting a foundation with a few other friends called Today4tomorrow – an initiative to provide opportunities to underprivileged girls in Thailand.
Congratulations to St Andrews senior student Natalie, who received an offer at the University of Bath to pursue a degree in Psychology. Have a read to learn more about Natalie’s perspective on the IB Diploma Programme and the endless possibilities that await her exploration.
Congratulations to senior student Ananya, who received an offer at University College London to pursue a degree in Politics and International Relations. We discussed her experience during the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews and her ideas and aspirations for the future. Read on!
