Hack the toilet roll

Have your children been demanding toilet roll and kitchen roll inners this week? If so, you have probably not been alone struggling to keep up with the demand.

It has been lovely to see the creativity in the classrooms as the children use very similar resources and a lot of brain power to design and make things that are so completely different. The children have been encouraging their teachers to think outside the box!

There was an awful lot of discussion, some great collaboration, some adapting of designs, reflecting and evaluating.

Of course this has resulted in the children wanting to carry on projects at break times… and our craft bins being emptied very quickly. If you have any egg boxes, cardboard tubes and cereal boxes at home, you can bring some of them down to the T Block where you will see bins. Cardboard is a bit more versatile as it is easy to cut and paint. I have seen some people already filling the bins so thank you for that.

  • Your design should be bright and colourful.

  • You should think creatively about how best to convey what each letter represents.

  • STEAM also helps to promote creativity, collaboration and communication – can your logo represent these elements too?

  • Consider the use of colour and the style of your lettering. Which images will you choose to use?

  • You can work individually, with a partner or in a small group.

  • Your design can be completed on A3 or A4 paper as it will need to be scanned.

  • Please hand your logo design to your class teacher by Monday 24th September and they will award you 2 house points.

Happy designing!
