The whole experience was nerve-racking. Sometimes, I found it so hard to breathe because of all the pressure of competing against more than 300 people. Still, it was a massive relief and I was very proud of myself for such a meaningful milestone that I achieved as a professional athlete

Our Year 9 student, Nicolas Stoneking, was ranked as the world number 2 in the cable wakeboarding championship at the 2022 Singha IWWF Competition.

To prepare for the competition Nicolas went to the ESC wake park for 3 weeks getting up at 6:30 am every day for a 1-hour warm-up before spending the next 4-8 hours of training. The fourth week of October was when the competition started.

On the first day of the competition, he had his qualification round and did an amazing job. On 4 November, Nicolas passed his LCQ round (last-chance qualification) and was entered in the semi-finals achieving second place in the competition earning him second place ranking in the world, for his age group. Unfortunately, due to an injury Nicolas was unable to take part in the finals.

Nicolas is one of our Lions Scholarship students and a member of our FOBISIA sports team. At Regents, we open doors for our students by providing them the opportunities for life-changing experiences. To find out more about our scholarships, please visit here
