Joint Year 6/7 Physical Education Activity - Transition Event
Last Friday pupils from Year 6 and 7 took part in a joint orienteering event around the Secondary school.
Making the big move from Primary School to Secondary School is an exciting transition that many of our Year 6 students look forward to. However, it is also a very big change and can leave some students and parents anxious. At Regents we want to successfully support our Year 6 children and their parents to make the transition from Primary education to Secondary education as comfortable as possible.
Since the start of the academic year, our Year 6 children have been involved in 'transition days' and 'transition events' that are designed for them to experience what life is like as a Secondary student. These events, which will continue on until the end of the year include tours of the Secondary School, meeting Secondary teachers, taking trial lessons in new subjects and enjoying lunch in 'The Basement' dining hall, among many others.
Last Friday pupils from Year 6 and 7 took part in a joint orienteering event around the Secondary school. Pupils had to find a variety of locations based on clues to unlock secret letters. Team 26 were victorious when they spelt out the word ‘ADVENTURE’ with just seconds remaining.
Everyone had a great time discovering new areas of the Secondary School with Year 7s helping the Year 6s find their way around. This is the latest transition event designed to help prepare our pupils for their upcoming move to the Secondary School.
A very special thanks to the PE department for running such a fantastic event, we can’t wait until the next one!
