After a very successful result, team Captain Luis took some time to reflect on the match and to think about what lessons could be learnt for the future. Well done to them all, and we commend them all for striving to do even better!
Last Thursday, we played at home versus GIS. Before the game, we got in a circle and passed the ball around with only two touches of the ball allowed which really got us practicing fast passing before the game. We were all pumped for the game but unfortunately some of us were a bit over-excited and had to miss the match due to injury (no names stated). However this did not let us down.
Straight after the kick-off, we all pushed up very high with the striker hunting the ball down which didn’t leave any space for the opposition to pass the ball, helping us regain possession fairly quickly without tiring ourselves out. By doing this we also made it impossible for them to pass the half-way line and got us scoring early in the game. During the game, under the rain, everybody did their job perfectly. Misha chased the ball upfront exactly how he was supposed to do, Lucas would regain possession in midfield, and back in defence, Normen, Hugo and especially Ricard didn’t let any shots through and defended really well. Whenever there was a corner, Ricard would get in the box and tell the other two to stay back, and the whole team would do their best to get back in defence when the opposition regained possession. There was also a lot of clear improvement with Christopher, who made two/three great saves in first half. He couldn’t have done much on the first goal and was very unlucky on the second. The rain made his job much tougher but he still made a great performance. More practice in training on catching and delivering the ball on goal kicks would be helpful but there is clear improvement. Even the people who came on played their role perfectly. Nathan would defend really well, Aut would sprint down the wing with the ball and Pauly gave many options upfront.
I think that we could have done even better if we used the wingers/fullbacks more by making them slide up and down their side of the pitch, communicating more and practicing what to do on goal kicks.
Overall, we played really well as a team and all did our job well on the pitch. I feel like if we play like we did, we can easily win the competition.
