Talent Show and Battle of the Bands event

‘In order to succeed, you first have to believe in yourself”.

Each year, the Secondary Student Guild runs its annual Talent Show, followed by the House Battle of the Bands Competition. This year was the first year in which there was whole school collaboration and the Talent Show became a Primary and Secondary joint event. There were 6 acts from each school, with one winner to be chosen from each.

The event is entirely student-led. From organising and holding the auditions to arranging the marketing of the event and sales of refreshments, the Secondary Student Guild reached the pinnacle of their career in office as a student leader.

The event was a huge success, with all 250 tickets sold out! Over 5,000 baht was raised for Regents’ Community Partners and the event also supported ‘Our Home’, who provided delicious baked goods to satisfy the hungry audience.

The winners of the event were: Primary – Eva - with a soulful song and piano rendition of ‘Summertime’; and for Secondary – a beautiful duet by Year 10 students, Chloie and Sofia.

The evening’s entertainment did not stop after the Talent Show! The Battle of the Bands filled the second half of the event – and again – was an entirely student-led event. A trio of Year 12 boys, Matt, Stefan and Joe, put the event together as a CAS project. The Houses were all represented wonderfully, with a variety of different band styles and music. But there is only one winner and this year, the winning House were Yellow House!

Well done to all participants for both the Talent Show and the Battle of the Bands! For those of you who might be thinking of competing next year, remember: ‘In order to succeed, you first have to believe in yourself”.
