This year’s literary festival was a roaring success with our students going from strength to strength. There was a series of events arranged and hosted by the English and EAL Department. In Year Group assemblies, students had to match the picture of a book shelf, or ‘shelfie’, to the teacher. What does what we read say about us?! This year’s film night of ‘The Maze Runner’ drew the largest crowd to-date. On Friday 4th March there were some very unusual characters roaming the corridors in full fancy dress – ranging from the more modern Games of Thrones to the more traditional Great Expectations. Literature dress-up day was a great success with many staff and students coming into school in imaginative costumes that got us all talking about our favourite characters and stories. In English lessons for KS3 the Literature Festival really got underway with students playing, ‘Call my bluff’, ‘Articulate’, ‘Just a minute’ and the ‘Great Regents Spelling Bee’ – with our students showing off their prowess for spelling.
The festival was also a House competition with Blue (Water) House being the overall winners this year. The English and EAL Department would like to extend their thanks to all who took part and made the event so memorable.
At Regents, our specialist staff are experts at creating personalised support programmes for students with additional educational needs. That’s why, throughout October we are celebrating Dyslexia and ADHD Awareness Month.
