Ten packed days of sports offers glimpse into life at Regents

An intense ten days in late January and the beginning of February captured the spirit of Regents International School Pattaya: a big school which can give opportunities to all its students. Between 29 January and 7 February, almost every single age group, from age 2 to 18, participated in inter-house or inter-school sports. You see, our focus is not on attracting and developing only the most promising competitors, it is to give every student the opportunity to enjoy physical exercise and healthy competition and to make friendships which will last a lifetime thanks in part to shared experiences.
Here’s some of what they got up to:
FOBISIA Swimming Invitational Meet (Phuket)
Over an exhausting three days (29,30,31 January) in Phuket, Regents’ swim squad (Years 4 to 9) joined heavyweight sports schools from across China, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia and China for the FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) Swimming Invitational. The squad, which only formed last September, showed exceptional determination and promise for the future: out of 112 races the squad entered, 105 personal best times were achieved.
Inter-House Sports Competition (Pattaya)
Over the space of three days (2, 3, 4 February), every student aged between 2 and 11 (Pre-Nursery to Year 6) participated in the school’s annual Inter-House Sports Competition. This year, the students had the benefit of using the school’s new air-conditioned sports hall alongside the grass pitches of ‘The Oval’ and the all-weather running track. The words on everyone’s lips by the end of week: Love sport for life.
Senior Invitational Games (Pattaya)
Two days, two sports, 10 international school teams from across Thailand (and one from Nepal) travelled to our campus for the Senior Invitational Games – our annual festival of basketball and football for boys and girls in Years 12 and 13 (16-18) . The quality of competition and of sportsmanship was incredibly high.
With the U13 and U11 squads preparing for the FOBISIA Games in Penang (Malaysia) in March and May respectively, and Regents getting ready to host the FOBISIA Sailing Competition at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in March, plus many other activities besides, there's much more sport to come.
