This week in the Performing Arts, we were very excited to welcome Steve Dunn our Curriculum Specialist back to school to see what the students of BISB have been up to. Our visit started off with our monthly Busking Morning in the atrium, with performances from Fraser Payn on the drums, Mei Wang on the Chinese Zither, guzheng (古箏) and a number of students from Year 7 – 10 performing solo piano pieces.
Steve then popped into see our Primary assembly and was welcomed with a number of solo performances from some of our younger students. Steve even gave an impromptu performance of Happy Birthday on his trombone, which the students were thrilled about. The following 3 days gave range to a host of opportunities for a number of students. Year 13 performed their recitals as part of a reflection session in preparation for their final IB performance exam on the 6th March. Year 10 IGCSE students took part in a composition workshop to aid them with developments of their composition work. The BISB Jazz Band got involved in an improvisation workshop on Monday afternoon, learning a range of skills and collaborating to create a successful jazz improvisation performance. In between our busy programme of events and workshops Steve visited and worked alongside teachers in a range of Music lessons, from Year 1 – 13, sharing his passion for and knowledge of the Arts. It has been wonderful to have Steve with us again this week and we look forward to seeing him again in April, for his 3rd and final visit of the year.
