On February 7th, the 28th day of the Chinese lunar twelfth month, the annual Chinese New Year celebration of Léman has finally arrived.
On this day, all Early Years and Primary school students, including German, EAL, and Korean students, gave a fantastic performance. The Early Years children displayed dedication and effort, earning applause for their confident voices and outstanding stage collaboration.
Year 3 to Year 6 students delivered diverse and impressive performances, showcasing German, Korean, English, and Chinese programs, highlighting Leman's international nature.
Hunter, Jenney, Winnie, and Kingsley from Year 6 excelled as hosts, demonstrating their leadership abilities.
Non-native language students from Year 5 and Year 6 received great cheers for their Chinese Kung Fu performance in "Descending the Mountain," while Year 6's native language class conveyed the message of "finishing today's tasks today" through their song "Tomorrow."
Year 3 and Year 4's native language classes transported everyone to a lively New Year's Eve atmosphere with their performance of "Idioms Celebrate the Chinese New Year."
The performance joyfully concluded with the dance program "Love Around the World," where all students from Year 3 to Year 6 sent their blessings for the Year of the Dragon. Headmaster Mr. Robert Dolan extended his Dragon Year wishes to all together with the students.
The secondary school students performed some wonderful performances for this Chinese New Year celebration. The students learned some new knowledge and experienced Chinese culture. They did not just put a lot of efforts into the practicing but also challenged themselves through this activity. Our two hosts Poppy and Zaynab are serving as hosts for the first time, and we are proud of their courage and performance!
Year 8&9 students tried Chinese Kung Fu for the first time. Our Korean student band performed the Korean song "Gaho-Start" to celebrate the Lunar New Year together.
Students from Year 10 &11 had their first experience in the complete process of creating scripts, performing, directing, and post-production, gaining a unique creative experience and a sense of accomplishment.
Finally, the song "About Peach Blossoms" by Year11&12 festively and wittily interpreted the longing mood of lovers looking forward to reunion.
Temple fair is one of the traditional celebrations during the Spring Festival. At LIS temple fair, students were enjoying themselves among different culture activities, where they not only had fun but also learned about traditional Chinese cultures. Delighted in the temple fair, students learned to write calligraphy, tasted the delicious traditional snack Tang Hulu, applied their creativity in decorating Chinese fans, practiced their patience for paper cutting, and even exercised their teamwork spirit for dragon dance. The temple fair closed with students writing their wishes for a more beautiful and fruitful time in the year of dragon.
