The Léman International School held its Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel on Monday 22nd May. In attendance were the graduates, their families, classmates, and friends, all of whom had come to celebrate the occasion. The graduates were Lynn K. , Mark K., Veronika N., Giovanna N., Frederick P., and Oliver Z..
The ceremony began with Principal Mr. Tom Ferguson giving a heartfelt speech, congratulating the graduates on their hard work and achievement. Ms. Monica Webster Head of Secondary Pastoral and TOK Teacher gave an speech touching on each individual graduate and the unique qualities that they brought to the secondary during their time. Mr. Matt Fletcher, the CAS Coordinator and IB DP English B teacher, then gave an empowering speech about the importance of IB education, and the need to never stop learning.
The graduates then took their turn to give their own speeches. Giovanna, Frederick, and Lynn spoke of their accomplishments, their memories, and their gratitude to those that had helped them on their paths.
Then the students received their CIS/NEASC Accredited LIS international School High School Diploma to great applause, and the turning of the tassels signified the final moment of graduation.
Although the graduates are no longer students at LIS, they will always be welcomed back. Indeed, Buster and Bridget, students of the Class of 2022 attended the ceremony. It was great to hear about their exciting new lives at university, and I'm certain the new graduates are looking forward to starting their university lives.
We thank all the parents, students, alumni, teachers, and friends for attending the evening ceremony, and those who watched the online live stream from all over the globe. It was a touching and heartwarming ceremony that the members of the Class of 2023 will never forget. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours and congratulate them once again on a job well done.
