Ms Sargent graduated from Reading University with a BA Honours in English Literature and History of Art. She then completed the CELTA course at the CES Embassy Language school and pursued her desire to teach English Language abroad. 

Ms Sargent’s first teaching experience was in Greece, on the beautiful island of Evia. The following year, she was offered a job in South-East Turkey to work in a brand-new K-12 private school. After three years in Gaziantep, where she immersed herself in Turkish culture and learned the language, she moved to Istanbul and worked on the Asian side of this magnificent city.

Having found her professional calling, Ms Sargent enrolled on the PGCE course for Secondary English at Brighton University. Ms Sargent then chose to complete her NQT year at The Purbeck School on the Jurassic coast in Dorset and stayed there for a few years developing her skills as a Secondary School teacher. 

Since then, Ms Sargent has enjoyed teaching English in Singapore from Year 7 to 13. She has experience with KS3, MYP, IGCSE and the IBDP curriculum for both English A and English B. She has been the coordinator for the Engiish B programme at her previous school and developed the units of study, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Ms Sargent has been a tutor throughout her career and has especially valued being an IB tutor for the last 4 years. Taking part in CAS trips to Nepal and India and tutor trips within South-East Asia, pre-Covid, has been a great experience for her.  

Ms Sargent believes in nurturing positive relationships with all her students, which builds a healthy working environment. Furthermore, she supports inclusion in the classroom and her desire to help all students access the curriculum and stay motivated and engaged.  Ms Sargent supports the growth-mindset and believes that teachers and students alike, are life-long learners. As an English teacher, she is committed to encourage all her students to develop a passion for reading, whatever the genre. 

Outside of the classroom, Ms Sargent is a keen swimmer as well as walking and cycling along the Green Corridor. During the holidays, she loves travelling in South-East Asia and Turkey with her family. Ms Sargent is also an avid reader and dabbles in creative writing.
