Sally Tong

4A class teacher
Sally-Tong

Sally Tong is originally from Norwich, England. She has a BSc in Psychology and American studies from Middlesex University as well as a PGCE in primary education from the University of East Anglia. Her passion for teaching began when she taught English in Ecuador to a range of adult and young adult students. During this time abroad, she realised that she wanted to make learning come alive and encourage understanding through enthusiasm and the joy of learning.

Sally has taught in the UK as well as internationally in both Japan and Vietnam; over her time as a teacher, she has taught Reception classes as well as Years 3, 4, 5, and 6.  Sally has held various roles in the schools she has taught in including IPC coordinator, modern foreign language leader, and the creative partnerships lead. She has incorporated her interests to lead extra-curriculum clubs that explored drama skills, additional languages, STEAM projects and Primary School Council.

Sally’s philosophy towards teaching is to create a meaningful environment where all children are empowered and have the tools to challenge and build on their curiosity in life. Children will have the opportunity to achieve academic and personal learning successes, while developing their confidence both socially and personally. She hopes to encourage her students to become confident speakers, efficient collaborators and leaders that have the perseverance and courage to overcome adversity.

When she is not teaching, Sally enjoys travelling, exploring different cultures, learning new customs, and sampling exciting foods. Her current challenge is to complete a Master's in Psychology to further support her love of teaching and learning. She also enjoys experimental cooking and learning new things!
