Mr Liu obtained a PGCEi from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. He completed his Master of Arts in Education from the University of Nottingham in 2022.
Prior to joining DCIS, Mr Liu has over seven years of experience in teaching Chinese as first and foreign language. He has previously taught in Traill International School Bangkok Thailand, as the Head of Modern Foreign Language Department and Secondary Mandarin teacher. This experience has developed his leadership skills and given him a sound understanding of the complexities of teaching Chinese to a diverse community of first and foreign language learners, in the context of Thailand. He is also a qualified team leader of “The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award”, the world’s leading youth achievement award, guiding and supporting young students to develop their life skills and leadership skills for a better world.
Mr Liu is delighted to be a part of the Mandarin Department at DCIS as he is passionate about working with young students, and he believes contingent teaching and learning within an international context will stretch them to reach their full potential. As an enthusiastic Mandarin teacher and workshop presenter, Mr Liu was certified as Google Trainer and presented various topics in different Chinese workshops, by sharing his expertise of ICT knowledge in Mandarin lessons; Besides, he has also contributed to teaching strategies with Mandarin teachers around the world by managing a non-profit Mandarin teaching WeChat blog.
As an old Chinese saying says, it is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books. Mr Liu enjoys reading books in his spare time, as well as travelling, to explore the world.
