Matthew Tuckley

Mr Tuckley graduated from University of Brighton with a Bachelor of Science degree, with first class honours. He continued his studies at the University of Portsmouth, gaining masters credits for research into the effect of metacognition and student self-regulation, whilst achieving a Secondary Science PGCE.

Mr Tuckley has particular interests in the field of quantum physics and energy production, towards a more sustainable approach to human energy needs. During his time teaching, Mr Tuckley has enjoyed mentoring trainee teachers and coordinating enrichment opportunities for the science curriculum. He believes that all people should have the ability to think scientifically and experiment in their everyday lives.

Prior to teaching, Mr Tuckley worked as a Learning Support Assistant - where he developed a keen insight into supporting those with additional needs. He was briefly store manager for a leading fashion footwear retailer in the UK and mentored school leavers as part a residential program promoting social integration and the development of skills for the world of work. 

As a qualified Duke of Edinburgh Award leader, he advocates a healthy, active and outdoors lifestyle. Having personally climbed Mount Kinabalu, skydived and participated in a 12 mile ‘mud run’! In his social time Mr Tuckley reads popular science books and has a variety of sporting interests, regularly weight training and playing football.
