Hu Nian

Nian graduated from Sichuan Normal University with a BA in Broadcasting and Anchoring, she completed her Teaching Certificate at Huazhong Normal University and qualified as Examiner of Mandarin Proficiency Test(PST) from the National Language Committee of the People’s Republic of China.

Nian started her teaching journey in China, she spent six years teaching Standard Mandarin and Mandarin Performing Arts at a local school. She moved to Singapore with her husband and began her journey with the IB PYP in an international school thereafter. She taught Mandarin from Year 3 to Year 6, supported K1 to Y2 with stories telling and library lessons. 

She has a passion for both teaching and learning, and is confident that they are both ubiquitous! She is always looking for opportunities to further her own learning, as well as that of the children she teaches.  She enjoys being creative and likes learning about different digital tools which can be used to both enhance her teaching and students’ learning. Outside of school, Nian loves exploring new things with her daughter, enjoys traveling with family and trying different cuisines.
