Emily Megoran graduated from the University of Roehampton in Primary Education with QTS.

Originally from Shropshire in the UK, Emily has spent time carrying out her passion for educating young people and has experience in teaching Years 3, 4 and 5 in Croydon and West London. She has also led subjects such as Religious Education and PSHE on a whole school level; running multiple themed weeks and using the wider community to further promote these curriculum areas. She also introduced new initiatives with the children to advocate student voice, such as a Pupil Podcast whilst leading the School Council.

Deeply interested in educational theory, Emily has carried out a master’s degree alongside teaching. Her course in Education Management at King’s College London has enabled her to gain a deep understanding of educational institutions, nationally and internationally, in terms of their cultural, political, and social contexts.

Emily believes in putting the wellbeing of her pupils at the forefront of all she does, both inside and outside of the four walls of the classroom. As a result, her educational philosophy is simple: happy pupils perform better in school and life. She nurtures pupils to be the best they can be by challenging their thinking through philosophical approaches and encouraging resilience by modelling how to embrace a Growth Mindset herself. In turn, this has led to her pupils to do the same should they find themselves in the ‘learning pit!’

Out of school, Emily is a keen explorer. Having attended an international school as a student herself and growing up in a multicultural background, she has a continued desire to learn about the world and the rich cultures countries have on offer. She also enjoys anything sport related, leading competitive staff netball teams in the past, as well as enjoying the simpler side of exercise like running with a friend.
