Mrs Johnston has an MA (Hons) in English Literature and History of Art from The University of Edinburgh. She has a PGCE in Secondary Education from the University of Sunderland.

Mrs Johnston joined Dover Court International School in early 2018. Prior to becoming a teacher, she spent fifteen years working in the London art market at Sotheby’s and as advisor to one of the leading private art collectors in Britain.

As an English teacher, she enjoys bringing creativity into the classroom and finding inventive ways of fostering a lifelong love of learning. At the core of her approach is the belief that a book, play or poem must first be enjoyed before it is studied. In this way she aims to ensure that every student is happy at school, becomes an avid reader and is given opportunities to think deeply and ask questions about the things that matter to them.

Mrs Johnston has supported the Art department at DCIS as well as helping with set design for Drama productions. She is a qualified museum guide and appreciated learning more about Asian Art while volunteering at Singapore Art Museum.

In her spare-time she is usually found in a heap of lego with her two young sons. She also loves cycling with her husband and children and exploring Singapore’s green corridors, parks and islands.
