David Holmes gained a BA in English Literature at the University of Sheffield, before achieving an MA in Radio Journalism at Nottingham Trent University in England. He undertook his teaching qualifications through teacher training with Bromley Schools Collegiate and the University of Worcester. David also completed his MA in International Education at King’s College London, through Nord Anglia Education.

Prior to teaching at DCIS, David taught at a Primary School in Bromley, experiencing all Primary year groups. Before this, he trained as a journalist, experiencing life at various radio stations, and working with all walks of life, until deciding on a career in teaching. He is delighted to be working at DCIS and is enjoying the opportunities that this has given him to see a new part of the world and experience new adventures in Singapore.

At his previous school, David co-ordinated art and music, a role which allowed him to show his creative side. Since moving to Singapore, he has enjoyed bringing this creative flair into the classroom, believing this enhances teaching and learning, and motivates the students.

David is usually found reading, writing, travelling, watching sports, or visiting theatres, cinemas, and art galleries. He is a lifelong supporter of Derby County Football Club. Additionally, he enjoys a wide range of music and films, and loves country walks and hiking.
