6E class teacher
Charlotte-McGarry

Charlotte McGarry graduated from University of Essex with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and is currently studying a Masters in International Education at King’s College London.

As an experienced Primary teacher with over six years of international teaching experience, Charlotte is excited to bring her skills and expertise to Dover Court. Charlotte’s journey as an educator began in 2017, when she came to China to teach internationally at an American school. During Charlotte’s time there, she honed in her teaching skills and gained valuable experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. This experience allowed Charlotte to develop her skills in culturally responsive teaching, which is an important aspect of creating an inclusive learning environment.

After three years at the American school, Charlotte moved to a Nord Anglia school in Shanghai, where she worked as a homeroom teacher. During her time in Shanghai, Charlotte was responsible for providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for the students. She worked closely with parents to ensure that their children were receiving a well-rounded, holistic education that met both their academic and social-emotional needs. One of the key lessons Charlotte learned during this time was the importance of building strong relationships with the students and their families. By doing so, she was able to better understand their strengths and areas for growth, and tailor her instruction to meet their individual needs. In Charlotte’s second year at Nord Anglia, she was promoted to Head of Primary Thematic Learning where she developed and implemented curriculum plans and led professional development sessions for other teachers and parents.

Throughout Charlotte’s teaching career, she has been passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that foster student engagement and success. Her teaching style is student-centred, and she believes in developing 21st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and creativity.
