Last Sunday members of the Dover Court community participated in the annual Remembrance Day Service held at Kranji War Memorial.

This year's Remembrance Day also marked 100 years since the Armistice was signed and it was a poignant service organised by the British High Commision.

Our principal Mr. Short lay a wreath on behalf of the Dover Court community and Ms Whittington led our school choir that participated in the joint British school choir, along with students from the other FOBISIA schools in Singapore and Marlborough College in Malaysia. The students sang In Flanders Field, The Lord is my Shepard, May the Road Rise Up to Meet You (Irish Parting Blessing), Amazing Grace, I Vow to Thee My Country and Abide with Me

Many of our students also attended the service in their role as Scouts or Guides.

In Flanders Field, by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
