On 1 March 2025, we hosted the third ever annual Charlotte Mackender Netball Tournament in memory of Charlotte Mackender, a beloved member of our school community who sadly passed away in 2022. The Charlotte Mackender Netball Tournament allows for us to celebrate Charlotte’s life through one of her passions, netball, and raise funds for Singapore Cancer Society simultaneously.
This year, we had teams from all over Singapore competing, including teams from clubs such as Crossroad, MANA, and Centaurs. Schools such as St. Joseph Institute (International), North London Collegiate School (Singapore) and Eunoia Junior College, also competed across the U14, U16, and U19 age groups. Over 150 players took part this year, where we saw many thrilling and close matches across the board, and Centaurs emerged as the champions in both the U14 and U16 age groups, beating Crossroad Atlas and MANA respectively, while Eunoia Junior College took home the gold in the U19 category against our very own DCIS team.
It was a meaningful tournament that saw the netball community of Singapore rally together and celebrate Charlotte’s life. We thank you for the generous donations made throughout the tournament, which resulted in over $4000 being raised in donations to the Singapore Cancer Society. We want to thank the Dover Court Association (DCA), Singapore Cancer Society, teachers, umpires and students who have all helped to make this event possible through their contributions in organising and facilitating the event.
