Message from Dr Hopkin Wishing safe travels and happy summer holidays to all of you

Wishing safe travels and happy summer holidays to all of you

Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

For many of you this week will mark the start of the holiday period, perhaps involving some significant travel to ‘home’ or your country of origin. For many others of course, it might well be the start of the opposite journey: saying goodbye to loved ones and starting the journey out towards Singapore for the start of a new life. We wish you all, whichever is the case for you, safe travels and happy times ahead.

Here at school, the end of year break is a very important and busy time. This often surprises families, but of course this is our best period to undertake significant building work, improving facilities, and enhancing provision. I am always very grateful to all our school’s support staff as they work tirelessly throughout this period, even though all children and teaching staff have flown the nest to other climes. However, when everyone returns in August, I know that many of you will take the time to pop in and say hello to our admin teams and congratulate them on what they have done to keep the continual process of transformation underway.

Of course, I depart too this week, and our new Principal, Mr Chris Short will arrive to take up the reins for the new academic year. I know that you will all give him your support and that in turn he is very keen to build on our successes and to keep moving the school forward dynamically. I look forward to seeing the ongoing progress from afar.

So, I hope you all have a great break. I would like to thank you for your support during my tenure here as Principal and I wish you and your children all the very best for the future. Lastly, I would like to thank my wonderful staff for all their hard work over the past two years, for it is their efforts that transform children’s lives.

Best wishes,

Dr Neil Hopkin, FRSA
Principal
