Words for Primary

Words from Primary - Words from Primary

On Wednesday, we wore pink shirts to stand against bullying. This initiative began in Canada in 2007 when a group of students bought and distributed pink shirts after a 9th grade student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. Taking an active stand against bullying begins with prevention and education in the early years.

In March, Primary social emotional classes and house morning meetings will focus on kindness. Our counselors will work with students to deepen their understanding of kindness and participate in activities related to this value.

Finalists will advance to a final swim meet (by grade level) which will be held on Friday, Feb 10.

International Women's Day Celebration

Dear mothers,

As part of our celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th, the CDS Impact Lead Team, would like to invite you to come and talk about your work, career, life, or volunteering experiences that represent female empowerment. We believe that your stories can serve as inspiration for our students, especially our young girls, and help them realize the potential of women in society.

We are looking for female family figures who are willing to share their stories and experiences with our students in their son or daughter’s classroom. You could talk about your profession, challenges, stereotypes faced, and what inspired you to pursue your dreams. Alternatively, you could share your experience of volunteering work that supports women or any other activities that you feel have empowered you as a woman.

We would love to have a diverse range of speakers representing different professions and backgrounds. If you're interested in speaking to our students, please send an email to Ms. Loria, Primary Assistant Principal, at sabrina.loria@cds.ed.cr who has kindly helped us to coordinate your visit with elementary teachers. Please include your son or daughter’s name, the classroom they are in and a brief summary of what you would like to share with our students.

Thank you for your support and willingness to empower our young girls through your stories.

Best regards,

Manuela Penalosa and Gerardo De Vega
