Let’s talk about the ability to control one’s emotions, impulses, and behavior, SELF-REGULATION. It involves the ability to control emotions, set goals, and make good decisions.

Why is it important?

There are several reasons why self-regulation is so important for kids. First, it can help them academically, pay attention in class and stay on task; can also help kids socially, get along with others and make friends easily; reduce anxiety and stress in their lives; they are more likely to be able to handle transitions both in the classroom and in life. For younger children especially, self-regulation strategies can decrease the number of tantrums, outbursts, and meltdowns. As parents, it is our job to help them learn how to self-regulate. Here I want to share with you some Self-regulation activities and resources that can help them develop this important skill:

Have a Wonderful week!

Secondary

At the High School Level, next week ninth graders will have a session with me in order to see how they are feeling about the Middle School/High School transition. We will also brainstorm on topics of their own interest for future advisory sessions related to their social-emotional curriculum.

I am sharing some tips on how to be a good listener, so a good communication channel can be established before expecting to be heard in return. Adult-teenage communication can be challenging sometimes, these are habits worth to be avoided. As adults, we can set the example in the image below.

Kind Regards
