A reminder about school uniforms. Please pay attention and help us to ensure the kids are coming dressed with the appropriate school uniform. There are some girls who are wearing black leggings, when the correct school uniform is red leggings. There are others who are wearing jumpers or hoodies with very bright colours or large logos. The correct uniform is to wear navy blue, black or grey with a small discreet logo.
MathCounts students performed above our expectations during the 2020 competition in El Salvador, last week. The students demonstrated a wide variety of math skills in individual and team challenges in a competition with twenty-one schools from six different Central American countries. Some of these skills include questions from algebra, geometry, and statistics. Students also had to use social, team building skills in doing activities with students from other schools. Congratulations to them and to accompanying teachers Mr Ronski and Ms Vargas.
The Green Team Leadership put on a smashing assembly this past Wednesday as their first act of the ECO Brick Challenge came to a close. 6 students were given the opportunity to throw a whip cream pie at Mr Tucker as a reward for making 3 or more ECO Bricks since the initiation of the challenge back in December. According to our calculations we need between 50 ECO Bricks to build our ECO Brick Garden Bed. We currently have made about 27. Act 2 of the ECO Brick Challenge has now begun. All advisory classes are in competition to make the most ECO Bricks by April 15. The class to make the most will receive a special dessert party from the Green Team Leadership! We want to give a special shout out to Mr. Tucker for volunteering his face and pride as incentive to jumpstart this challenge.
Algebra students using mathematical concepts to debate if the arsenic in a well is associated with the arsenic in the human body.
6th grade students completed a lab to demonstrate the rock cycle and then watched as the “rocks” went through each stage.
On Friday, advisories 7A and 7D collaborated on a birthday celebration for 7th graders Michelle Song, Nirel Harmon, and Dermot Laffler!
