High School Principal
Next week, the Student Council has planned a spirit week where students can show off the school spirit and get in the fun of dressing up with their friends as a way to unite the high school. But there is a twist.
For the first two days this week, we will be in normal dress code. We have a Nord Anglia photographer on campus who will be taking pictures of our students for our school’s publications and brochures. It is IMPERATIVE that all students come to school in the proper dress code so as to be able to have pictures of our HS students taken.
Then on Wednesday we will begin our Spirit dress culminating the following week. Below is the schedule of Spirit wear:
Monday April 1: Regular Uniform Dress (THIS IS NOT AN APRIL’S FOOLS PRANK, we really do have a photographer from Nord Anglia on campus Monday and Tuesday)
Tuesday April 2: Regular Uniform Dress
Wednesday April 3: Mix-matched Day: wear your clothing backward, mix-matched, and silly
Thursday April 4: Movie/Book Character Day: Dress as your favorite movie or book character
Friday April 5: Twin/Look Alike Day: Grab a group of friends and dress up alike!
Monday April 8: Pajama Day:Wear your favorite pajama shirt or pants, but remember to stay in dress code, no boxer shorts, short shorts, or tank tops!
Tuesday April 9: Decades Day:
9th grade dress up from the ‘60s time period
10th grade dress up from the ‘70s time period
11th grade dress up from the ‘80s time period
12th grade dress up from the ‘90s time period
Wednesday April 10: CDS Spirit Wear: Wear your CDS spirit shirts or come in White, Blue, and Red!
If you have not been following the news lately, you may not have heard of the terrible cyclone that hit Mozambique earlier this month. Cyclone Idai has been regarded as “one of the worst tropical cyclones on record to affect Africa and the southern hemisphere as a whole.” Over 700 deaths have been reported thus far in three countries with Mozambique accounting for 490 of those deaths. The government in Mozambique has recently called off rescue efforts to search for victims and survivors. The human loss and devastations of cities and towns will take years and money to rebuild.
Three CDS students have decided that we as a school halfway around the world can help. Maximiliano Paulino, Hojin Kang, and Ilan Mayer, all sophomores here at CDS, are leading the high school in asking students to make donations to help those in Mozambique. This particularly hits home to Maximiliano who spent four years living in Mozambique.
So what did these students come up with? They decided to hold a competition amongst the four generations to see which generation can accumulate the most donations. The class with the most donations will receive three dress down days some time after Semana Santa! Donation jars will be placed in the HS office clearly labeled and collections will be taken up the entire week!
I’m proud of these young men and their willingness to do something to help our fellow man halfway around the globe!
