Earth Week at BSKL

Earth Week at BSKL - Earth Week at BSKL
Earth Week at BSKL
We have had a fantastic week celebrating Earth Week at BSKL. Across the school, the students have been reflecting on our theme ‘Sustainability and Plastic Waste’.

We have been learning about how we can save the planet by thinking about reducing, reusing and recycling to learning more about how plastic pollution is affecting our oceans.

We kicked off our Earth Week celebrations with a primary assembly on Monday morning. During this assembly the children heard from Dr. Pelf from the Turtle Conservation Society about the work they do to save river terrapins in Malaysia and how to reduce plastic waste.

Throughout the week, the Turtle Conservation Society continued to run their stall in the Lower Hill Campus entrance where the students purchased turtle themed gifts and adopted river terrapins to support the Turtle Conservation Society with the work that they do. The Turtle Conservation Society also held a showcase for all primary classes to learn more about their conservation efforts to save the river terrapin. The BSKL community raised a total of RM14,148 to support TCS. Thank you so much for your support. This money will be used to support their work in restoring depleted wild populations of freshwater turtles in Malaysia and to help save critically endangered turtles. Thank you to Jenna (6A) for all of her hard work in organising this amazing opportunity for BSKL and her dedication to saving the turtles in Malaysia.

To end the week, the students came to school dressed in blue and green. It was a fantastic way to end the week and to end our second term.
