To support T.F.M. we are collecting books of all kinds that our community are willing to give to support T.F.M. drive to improve literacy. To highlight the important work that T.F.M. does in Malaysia we have invited Priscilla Wong, Head of Student Mobilisation,
for an interview to give us valuable insight.
Finally, below is an article written by Hadi Year 13 on Teach For Malaysia.
This week, we were fortunate to have representatives from Teach For Malaysia visit BSKL to shed light on their initiatives in the field of education equity. Our Leaders for Change, had the opportunity to interview the representatives and delve deeper into Teach For Malaysia's mission and the personal journeys of its advocates.
Teach For Malaysia (TFM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing educational disparities across Malaysia by providing quality education to all children, regardless of socio-economic background. Their approach involves recruiting and training young leaders, known as fellows, who commit to a two-year teaching stint in high-need schools. These fellows, armed with a sense of purpose and determination, work tirelessly to empower their students and inspire them to reach their full potential.
Despite the challenges posed by systemic issues and the ongoing pandemic, TFM remains steadfast in its mission to improve educational opportunities for all children. Through innovative programs like the Fellowship program, which has trained over 500 fellows in high-need areas, TFM strives to bridge the gap in educational access and quality.
As highlighted by the representatives, one of the most rewarding aspects of their work is witnessing the transformation of students and the impact of TFM's initiatives. From organizing student leadership conferences to providing tutoring programs for vulnerable communities, TFM has continued to empower students to believe in themselves.
Looking towards the future, TFM aims to expand its reach and empower even more students to become leaders in their communities. To achieve this goal, TFM has produced initiatives like the Student Summit, where students have a platform to voice their ideas for change.
Fortunately, BSKL has the opportunity to support TFM's mission by having students participate in BSKL’s first book drive. We urge parents and students to contribute, your donations will help fill up libraries in less fortunate communities, providing children with access to valuable resources and learning materials.
