Ice Bucket Challenge

Ice Bucket Challenge - Ice Bucket Challenge
Ice Bucket Challenge
The Ice Bucket Challenge is a viral social media phenomenon, and the perfect tool for fundraising and raising awareness for a worthy cause, which we did at BSKL.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is a viral social media phenomenon, and the perfect tool for fundraising and raising awareness for a worthy cause. This Wednesday, 28th June 2023, we completed our very own Ice Bucket Challenge to fundraise for World Refugee Day, managing to raise just over RM4000 to contribute to the fundraising efforts for Parastoo Theatre, a community-funded refugee theatre troupe.. The event took place on the Astroturf during Connections.

The organisers of the Ice Bucket Event were the Social Impact Team, who were determined to support the refugees in KL. In the weeks leading up to Wednesday, students were given the opportunity to donate toward getting their favourite teachers dunked, and then were randomly selected to face the icy-cold buckets themselves! They raised over MYR 2000+, succeeding in their initial goal of raising at least MYR 500.

A special thank you to Ms Giles, Mr Milliner, Mr Davey, Mr Chauhan, Mr Gothard, Ms Laragione, Mr Alexander, Mr Watts, Mr Wilson, Mrs Humphrey, Mr Hilder, Ms Ying Ying, Mr King, and our mystery special guest, Dr, O' Connor for participating!

An especially special thank you to Dr Geddes who volunteered to be dunked with ice-cold water for Dr O'Connor to double our amount from MYR 2000 to MYR 4000!

We are beyond grateful to be within such a supportive, thriving school community that have come together to make this ice bucket challenge activity a fun, lasting memory.

What a brilliant way to kick-start the summer!
