Simon Head Message
Week 1, Term 3, 2024/2025

A very warm welcome back to Term 3! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break with your families.

It has been wonderful to see the school buzzing with energy again, and even more special to welcome so many of you onto campus today for our Student Led Consultations and Specialist Teacher Parent-Teacher Conferences.

One of the real highlights of the day has been seeing children take centre stage to share their learning journeys with you. There’s something incredibly powerful about watching a child explain what they’ve been working on, talk about how they overcame a challenge, or celebrate a moment they felt proud of. These conversations aren’t just a chance to showcase their work—they build confidence, deepen understanding, and reinforce the idea that learning is something to be proud of and shared with others.

At BSKL, we place great importance on giving children a voice in their learning. When students can reflect on their progress and take ownership of their next steps, they begin to see themselves not just as learners, but as capable, independent individuals. Your role in this process, listening, encouraging, and asking thoughtful questions, plays a huge part in helping them grow and thrive.

It’s also a valuable opportunity for you as parents to see the breadth and depth of what your child is doing in school. Whether it’s a beautifully written story, a maths strategy they've mastered, a science investigation they’re passionate about, or simply the way they speak about their friendships and experiences, these moments help us all see the whole child.

There is certainly a lot to look forward to this term, and the pace ramps up quickly! Next week sees the return of our CCA programme, with children across the school engaging in a wide variety of exciting opportunities. We also have over 150 children taking part in the Kangaroo Maths Competition, a fantastic celebration of mathematical thinking and problem-solving. On top of that, we’re delighted to be hosting two instrumental concerts on Monday and Tuesday after school, giving our talented musicians the chance to shine.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to a term filled with learning, growth, and plenty of moments to celebrate.
