We are proud and delighted to share the news that Year 12 student Sabrina Zhang has been selected to speak at the United Nations High Level Political Forum in New York next month!
Sabrina is one of four Global Campus Student Ambassadors representing our school at the Nord Anglia UNICEF Global Goals 2017 Summit from 12-19 July, 2017. This event sees 87 students from over 40 Nord Anglia Education (NAE) international schools spending a week focusing on furthering the UN Goals for Sustainable Development in cooperation with our partners in UNICEF.
To be selected to go to New York, Sabrina and the other Ambassadors, Helen Kim, Tildie Stapelberg and Sunny Hwang underwent a tough application process. Sabrina then had to submit a 5 minute video speech outlining the projects BSB has undertaken this year linked to Sustainable Development Goals SDG#2 Zero Hunger. Please click above to see the video.
In this video, Sabrina outlined the challenges we face and ideas on how to tackle them in the future. Sabrina was very clear in her video how important she felt the partnership between UNICEF and NAE students is for future generations. Sabrina spoke eloquently of the factors that motivated her to become a voice for her and future generations. She has undertaken service work in Myanmar and on the Tanzania Global Campus Expedition this year and is a passionate advocate for young people taking action, being active citizens.
Sabrina is one of eight students to have been selected to speak at this forum and she will be presenting on how our students can become more strategic and take a longer term view of what we would like to achieve in collaboration with UNICEF by 2030, and how NAE students are going to be ‘change agents’ and global citizens inspiring others into action. We can’t wait to hear Sabrina speak at this forum and we will be sending updates throughout the week. Well done Sabrina, we are all so proud of you.
