This week in Year 1, the children did a science experiment using eggs during our Topic lessons.
First, we looked at different materials in and around the classroom, discussing what things are made of and what would happen if they were made of other materials. For example, a chair made of paper or a window made of string. Then came the challenge! The children were asked to design 'something' using junk modelling materials that would stop an egg from cracking when dropped from a height.
The children worked together in groups and independently to create a secure and strong home for their eggs before testing out their designs. Most of the eggs made it without cracking and we were so happy and excited by the end of the experiment that we all decided to do the chicken dance!
An egg-cellent week here in Year 1 - we are super excited to take part in more hands-on activities during the Summer Term!
