Yes, it's Yes! - Yes Fair
This year all Year 6 students participated in the YES project, which is an acronym for Young Entrepreneur Scheme. In this project, students had the opportunity to create their own business. There were 5 people in each business, with one of them being classed as the CEO of the company. There were 12 businesses in total.
At the beginning of the YES period, ‘employees’ were given the task of selecting a product that they will create and produce throughout the periods. After selecting the product, they needed to obtain information from their fellow students. They needed to process the information given to them by other students. The following periods consisted of creating a presentation of their business plans, gaining a loan from Ms Valko and using said loan to obtain materials/ingredients for their product. This would be delivered to them by Mr Valentin.
The following periods consisted of creating the product. Businesses had many creative and original ideas for products. Some businesses did plushies, while others made stress balls. Some companies decided on something original, while others went back to the past for ideas. Some products were cheap, while others were expensive compared to other groups. Either way, all products were a success.
Finally, the YES fair began. Before that, businesses made adverts, posters and all in all, prepared for the big day. Some sold out immediately, while some didn’t sell out at all! In the end, Year 6 made 212 860 HUF, which is quite a lot of money, and it all went to the Robert Burns Foundation, a charity which buys equipment for hospitals in Budapest. At the time of writing this article, Year 6 is creating a presentation for parents that they will present on Wednesday. Thanks for reading.
