Last Sunday, Mr Dyer and Miss Ford travelled to Kakucs to watch one of our Sixth Form students engage in her passion - motorsport! Annamaria Abari in Year 13 is a keen driver and has even had her own personal racing car spray-painted and decorated with our school logo.

She invited BISB staff to watch her drive the newly-painted BISB race car in action for the first time. Mr Dyer and Miss Ford visited the Kakucsring where Annamaria was racing in 3 time-trial sessions. For each time-trial Annamaria had to drive her car for 3 laps and register her times, which were then placed in competition against nearly 100 other drivers' times.

Annamaria explained that this is how the races work in the off-season, whereas in the main racing season, the drivers compete directly against each other which leads to some high-octane races with plenty of drama! In between her laps on Sunday, she told Miss Ford and Mr Dyer how her hobby of motorsport helps her to relax, whilst at the same time enjoying the pleasure of focusing and concentrating on something completely different from her academic studies. Annamaria's interest in motorsport began with go-karting at the age of 12 and she now regularly trains and competes in her own car at the Kakucsring and other race tracks in Hungary and across Europe. Thanks go to Annamaria's parents who are clearly dedicated to helping her realise her ambitions in motorsport, and were kind and gracious hosts on Sunday for our visit.
