As with the last, ‘Ask the Artist’, this is an opportunity for our students to engage with The Juilliard School’s Alumni who have chosen the performing arts as a career and gain a greater understanding of their art, training, career and experience.
How “Ask the Artist” works
Isabel Leonard is a Juilliard Alumna and multiple Grammy award winning mezzo-soprano, who continues to thrill audiences in the opera house and on the concert stage. The “Ask the Artist” site on Global Campus contains Isabel’s bio, photos and a number of videos of her performing opera, popular songs as well as on Sesame Street. This information gives our students an understanding of her work. Following this is a section where students can post questions online about anything they’re curious about e.g. her practice routines and vocal exercises, motivation or inspiration, experiences performing on the world’s leading operatic stages, or strategies for embodying different characters (and genders!). The deadline for asking questions is Monday 7th May 2018. Isabel will then read all the questions and choose a selected number to answer, which she’ll do by video. We’ll post the video answers on Global Campus Online by Tuesday 5th June 2018.
