This year we organised the first ever BISB Ski Camp. The venue was in Tarvisio, which is friendly little town in the Italian Alps. Our aim was to establish a ski camp for all future BISB students. 19 students from Years 6-8 and two members of staff had the opportunity to attend this one week ski camp during February half-term break. The ski school programme brought together some local ski instructors, coordinated by a Hungarian travel agency, and a ski school called SITANODA. The students and the accompanying adults were accommodated in a high-quality four-star hotel called Hotel Il Cervo, just a short walk away from the ski slopes.
The ski conditions were perfect over the course of the week; there was sunshine, snow and of course the stunning scenery of the Italian and Slovenian Alps. All participators were super delighted and absolutely enjoyed skiing the slopes. The students not only enjoyed improving their skiing skills during the day but were happy participating in the evening sessions of different team building activities, board games, swimming in the hotel pool and a disco. On the last day all students regardless of their skills, participated in the first BISB ski competition. The competition was organised in two categories, more advanced and less advanced levels. We are delighted to inform you that all competitors successfully completed the slalom race and passed the finish line with a smile. Students and teachers returned back home safely with lots of great memories and certainly wanting more next year.
Our excellent students learned to be not only responsible for their own safety but also for the safety of others around them. We are very proud of them. Many thanks to all who supported us and participated in this successful ski trip. Everybody is already looking forward to next year’s camp, BISB Ski Camp 2018!
Just a few comments from the students:
“I enjoyed learning how to do jumps and going on black slopes.“
“I enjoyed skiing the most. Apart from skiing I think the dance party was very fun and also the board games.”
“The skiing was the most enjoyable part. I also liked to go up 2000 meter and being tourist.”
“I enjoyed skiing the most as it was the reason we went. I also enjoyed the evening activity because they were fun and you got to interact with new people. I also enjoyed the final race.”
See you next year folks!
