Reading eBooks at home with Bug Club As a school we’re committed to investing in new technology and services to help children to engage with reading and we strongly encourage reading at home, both print and eBooks. Bug Club has changed and has a new URL www.activelearnprimary.co.uk and exciting new functionality including the option to read Bug Club on iPads and selected Android tablets.
As a school we’re committed to investing in new technology and services to help children to
engage with reading and we strongly encourage reading at home, both print and eBooks. Bug Club has changed and has a new URL www.activelearnprimary.co.uk and exciting new functionality including the option to read Bug Club on iPads and selected Android tablets.
The biggest difference will be that your children will be able to read their Bug Club eBooks using
an iPad and selected Android tablets. They’ll still be able to use Bug Club on the laptops or desktop computers they currently use but now they’ll be able to read their favourite Bug Club title in bed on their iPad or tablet. It is suggested that only Wi-Fi connections are used for this otherwise significant data costs could be incurred. They will also have access to Bug Club's new improved My Rewards area where they will be able to spend the coins they earn from reading their eBooks in different reward worlds and will be able to ‘spend’ their reward coins straight away or save them up to spend when they want. This adds to the engagement, but does not distract from the reading.
You should start using www.activelearnprimary.co.uk to access Bug Club at home. When you do so, you’ll be able to use Bug Club eBooks on iPad 2s, 3s or 4s and iPad Minis, with iOS 7.0 or above. You’ll also be able to use it on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, 7.0 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or above, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, 10.1 with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean or above and the Google Nexus 7 and 10 with Android 4.4 Jelly Bean or above.
If you have an iPad, we recommend you use iPad’s default Safari browser to access Bug Club. If you have an Android device, we recommend you use the Google Chrome browser. If you use Bug Club on a laptop or desktop computer at home, we recommend you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers. If you prefer to use Internet Explorer, you will need at least IE10 in order for the content to work. If you have any questions about the Bug Club upgrade please speak to Mr. Brown.
Happy reading!
